Teaching Functional Communication Skills

October 8 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

$55
A professional behaviour support practitioner is teaching a client functional communication using visual aids and communication devices

In this session, we will focus on functional communication as a cornerstone of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS). Functional communication teaching is a powerful strategy for addressing challenging behaviours by providing individuals with effective and meaningful ways to communicate their needs. This session will cover evidence-based techniques for teaching functional communication responses that replace behaviours of concern with socially acceptable alternatives.

Participants will learn how to assess communication needs, identify targets, and implement interventions that promote independence and reduce behaviours of concern. Whether you’re working with children or adults, this session will equip you with practical tools to enhance communication and improve quality of life.
